Great news for Koh Chang !

A new ferry service will open soon and will connect our beloved island to Sattahip (50 km from Pattaya) !

Indeed, in the coming weeks the private company Royal Passenger Liner Co. will open a new route between Sattahip (south of Pattaya) and the south of Koh Chang (Bang Bao), with ferries accommodating up to 350 passengers.

We don’t have any additional details about duration, price, etc.

It’s a great news for Koh Chang : it will make it easier for tourists and visitors to move in and out the island from/to Pattaya, Rayong, or even Hua Hin ; as the ferry will accost in Bang Bao, the tourist arrivals will be better distributed than before through the island — the south of Koh Chang will develop more quickly ; the already existing ferry companies in the north of the island will have to improve their service, etc.

It’s one more step towards development for Koh Chang !

And for people worried about Pattaya crowds coming to Koh Chang, take it easy : the new ferries will take more time and will be more expensive than the current minivans linking Koh Chang and Pattaya.
